In October 2026, a school of fifteen opens in Dubai.
The school holds one conviction above the others: children grow by doing real things well. A page of mathematics mastered, a poem learned by heart, a horse groomed before it is ridden, a craft pursued until it begins to answer. Nothing here is performed for an audience, and nothing is done merely to fill the hours. The work is the point, and the child who does it with care is quietly changed by it.
The School
Institut Arête opens in Dubai in October 2026 with fifteen students, aged four to ten, each of them known well and taught accordingly. The academic programme is Cambridge-aligned and paced to mastery: a child moves forward when a thing is truly learned, not when the calendar says so.
The design draws on three traditions. From the Swiss schools comes the conviction that education is the formation of a whole person, in sport, art, language, and conduct as much as in the classroom. From the tutoring houses comes mastery pacing, each child working at the edge of their own ability rather than the middle of a class. And from the classical liberal arts comes the older belief that a child should read well, speak well, and reason well before anything else. None of these ideas is new. The work lies in holding all three together, daily, for each child.
The Seven Pillars
Every hour of the day is accounted for. Seven disciplines share it between them, from the morning's academic core to the long afternoon given over to a child's own craft.
Reading, composition, and the spoken word, together with languages. Each child carries three: English, and two others chosen from a menu of seven.
Mathematics and the natural sciences, taken to mastery in the morning and pursued by hand in the afternoons, through observation and experiment.
History, geography, and the study of belief, in two faith tracks: a universal comparative course for all, and Islamic Studies for families who wish it.
Music and the visual arts, treated as disciplines with their own standards rather than as decoration. Every child studies piano and learns to draw from observation.
Sport in rotation through the week, including equestrian, swimming, tennis, golf, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. The aim is competence and composure in the body.
Eloquence, negotiation, and problem-solving, practised across every subject. A child here learns to make a case, to hear one, and to find a way through difficulty.
A serious craft, chosen by the child and pursued over years with real materials, real teachers, and real standards. The largest single portion of the day belongs to it.
The Morning Core
of academic core a day.
Each day begins with two hours of academic core: mathematics, reading, and writing, paced to mastery with the support of adaptive tutoring and a Guide present in the room. The software holds the pace; the Guide watches the child. Two hours of full attention cover what a conventional timetable spreads across a day.
A third hour is led entirely by people: literature read aloud, composition, science, language. By late morning the academic work is complete, and the day opens to the Talent Track, sport, the arts, faith, service, and conversation.

The Founders

We are the parents of two daughters, and the school began with them.
Over several years we walked the corridors of good schools in Dubai. The children were safe, the classrooms bright, the results creditable. But the days were long and diffuse, and the pace was set for no one in particular. A quick child waits; a struggling child is carried past what was never learned. We kept expecting to find the school we had in mind. We did not.
Humza was educated in the United States, from kindergarten through university, then medical school, then business school. He is grateful for that education and clear-eyed about its costs: a great deal of waiting, and things half-learned in the hurry between examinations.
Fariha left the London School of Economics before finishing, and has been building things since. Together we run Kaizen Pilates in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, alongside KaizenWell. She leads the making of this school, its brand and its daily execution, through to opening day.
A generation ago, a school like this would have taken twenty years to begin. It needed a campus, a large staff, and a long apprenticeship to convention before anyone would trust it. That is no longer true. Mastery-paced tutoring, fine teachers, small numbers, and serious crafts can now be brought together by people prepared to take responsibility for doing it carefully. We have taken that responsibility.
Our own daughters will be in the founding cohort. Everything the school asks of a family, it asks first of ours.

Founding cohort, October 2026
The school opens in October 2026 with fifteen students, aged four to ten. Each place is offered by invitation, after unhurried conversation with the family; what matters most to us is a family's conviction in the education itself. At the end of the first year, founding families have the option to convert their contribution into equity in the school's holding entity, with a seat on the board.
The Founder Contribution covers the whole of the programme: the Cambridge academic core, three languages, the Talent Track, the full sport rotation including equestrian, and the Individual Development Plan, the continuous record that follows each child from age four to graduation. Transportation to every extracurricular, and all supplies, digital and non-digital, are included. Talent-specific materials chosen with the mentor are billed à la carte. Founding families hold a twenty-five percent discount against standard tuition for as long as the enrolled child remains at the school; standard tuition will sit higher as the school grows.
